Day 2 Bordeaux > Saint-Émilion
Enjoy a pleasant morning cruise on the Dordogne River to Libourne. We’ll spend the afternoon in the nearby town of Saint-Émilion, an absolute visual feast and the jewel of this ancient wine growing region. You’ll also get to explore the underground catacombs of the Monolithic Church - a true trip highlight.
Sundowners: Celebrate the two thousand-year history of wine with a glass at the exclusive estate of Château Soutard. (B,L,D)
Day 3 Libourne
Awake to the charming vistas over historic Libourne.
Freechoice: Enjoy a guided tour of Libourne and view its quaint 16th century town-house and gothic church. Alternatively, explore the exquisite estate of Château Franc Mayne and taste its Grand Cru Class wine, or view the eclectic city of Bergerac and enjoy foie gras tasting at a charming local farm. Day 4 Libourne > Médoc
Cruise this morning to the scenic Médoc wine region. Spend the afternoon discovering why this region is highly regarded as the world’s leading red wine producer. Afterwards, sample the region’s finest at the Château Gruaud-Larose estate, or take a bike to Château Lagrange, featured on Napoleon III’s
Enrich: The spectacular Médoc countryside boasts many fine aristocratic châteaux but none more opulent than Château Giscours. You’ll be escorted to the Giscours estate to enjoy an unforgettable four-course dinner with Grand Cru Class wines and live musicians performing classical masterpieces for your enjoyment. Day 5 Médoc > Cadillac
Soak in the Garonne River panoramas as we spend a luxurious day aboard the Scenic Diamond on our full day cruise through some of Bordeaux’s most beautiful scenery to Cadillac. (B,L,D)
Day 6 Cadillac
Venture into the Sauternes region for a tasting of the prestigious Château Guiraud dessert wines. Alternatively, cycle through the rolling vineyards of Sauternes to taste the Grand Cru Class wines of Château Myrat.
Freechoice: Founded by Charlemagne, tour the impressive Roquetaillade Castle. Alternatively, discover the medieval village of Saint Macaire, where 11th Century buildings now house modern shops linked by charming alleyways. Day 7 Cadillac > Bordeaux
Today we’ll discover the World Heritage-listed city of Bordeaux and the city’s idyllic boulevards and architecture.

Enjoy an afternoon at leisure in Bordeaux before kicking up your heels to a local jazz band on board this evening. (B,L,D)
Day 8 Arcachon
Situated on the northern tip of Europe’s longest coastal beach, Arcachon is the jewel of France’s western coastline. Discover the delights of this beachside area at your own pace with your choice of activities this morning.
Freechoice: Taste Arcachon’s renowned oysters, or explore Le Teich bird sanctuary, home to over 250 bird species. Alternatively, climb Europe’s largest sand dune and drink in the expansive panoramas.

Day 9 Cognac
Today explore the unique northern shores of the Gironde Estuary.
Freechoice: Discover the Terres d’Oiseaux nature park, home to over 100 species of birds. Alternatively, spend a full day exploring the fortified town of Cognac, renowned for its production of fine brandy. Afterwards, enjoy a tasting at the acclaimed property of Rémy Martin.

Day 10 Bourg > Bordeaux
Discover the riverside towns of Blaye and Bourg this morning, established to protect the Bordeaux region from invasion.
Freechoice: Stroll through the charming Citadel of Blaye, or join a 30km roundtrip cycle along the Captain’s Road which is so named in honour of Captain Pat Fitzgerald of the British Army who retook to the riverside village of Bourg from the German forces in WWI.
Our journey continues through beautiful riverside villages before our return to the ship. Perhaps relax on the Sun Deck as we cruise past beautiful uninhabited islands, or choose to enjoy an on board cooking class, as we enjoy an afternoon of cruising bound for Bordeaux. Day 11 Bordeaux > Porto
Morning flight to Porto for your Douro Valley cruise. (B,D)
Day 12 Porto > Entre-os-Rios
Today, discover the historic treasures of Porto, including a visit to Palacio do Bolsa. Then enjoy a relaxing afternoon of cruising as your luxury Scenic Space-Ship meanders its way to Entre-os-Rios. (B,L,D)
Day 13 Entre-os-Rios
Freechoice: Guimarães was the seat of the first King of Portugal and is dominated by the impressive Ducal Palace, which dates back to medieval times. It’s a great tour to kickstart your interest in this fascinating region. Alternatively, you could choose a tasting at the fairy tale-like property of Quinta Aveleda, a renowned regional sparkling wine producer. The incredible gardens alone make the excursion worthwhile.
This afternoon, enjoy a blissful cruise to Regua.
Sundowners: After the doors close to the general public, you’ll get to soak in the expansive views of Regua’s surrounding vineyards at an exclusive cocktail event hosted on the beautifully manicured terrace of the Douro Museum. Savour a range of port wine varietals in the most wondrous setting - and be sure to try the Port Tonic. (B,L,D)
Day 14 Regua
Freechoice: Tour the elegant town of Lamego, with its many fine Baroque structures, or enjoy a guided visit of Mateus Palace, the historic icon depicted on the labels of Portugal’s famous Mateus rosé wine.
This afternoon, you’ll discover the captivating Varosa Valley and visit the charming village of Tarouca where you’ll get to explore the restored Monastery of Saint John of Tarouca. En route walk the fortified bridge of Ucanha, Portugal’s first toll bridge, spanning the crystal clear waters of the Varosa River. (B,L,D)
Day 15 Regua > Vega de Terron
Today, enjoy a full day cruising the Douro Valley’s Vinhateiro wine growing region. World Heritage-listed Vinhateiro has a history of wine production that stretches back for 2,000 years. In fact, its impeccable port wines have been world-famous since at least the 18th Century. (B,L,D)
Day 16 Salamanca
Take your time absorbing the sheer architectural splendour of Salamanca, a city as visually striking as it is historically intriguing. Enjoy an included lunch accompanied by Tuna music entertainment performed by local students, followed by some free time where you can explore at will. (B,L,D)
Day 17 Pocinho > Pinhão
Over breakfast, you’ll enjoy a leisurely cruise to nearby Pocinho for our Côa Valley discovery.
Freechoice: Visit the award-winning Côa Valley Museum and enjoy a pre-historic workshop. If you’re more adventurous at heart, take a canoeing excursion on the Sabor River. Alternatively, you could join the ‘Tastes of the Côa Valley’ excursion and visit Casa Painova for a sweet almond workshop and a tasting of their almond, olive and fruit products.
This afternoon, enjoy your picturesque cruise to Pinhão. (B,L,D)
Day 18 Pinhão
Today you’ll visit the remarkable village of Provesende, resplendently showcasing the Portugal of yesteryear. Wander the atmospheric streets of this quaint village with the locals as they proudly introduce you to their way of life – including their local bakery, and the bar and its wonderfully eclectic collection of regional wares. This is a specially choreographed experience only open to Scenic guests. You’ll also visit the church for a special recital, and enjoy wine tasting at the restored manor house of Morgadio da Calçada. What better way to immerse yourself into the local culture.
Freechoice: Top off a truly unforgettable day with a visit to the estate of Quinta Bonfim for a tasting of their famous export. If you’re feeling energetic, you could also choose a walk through the hillside vineyard for a unique tasting among the vines. (B,L,D)
Day 19 Pinhão > Porto
Having spent the previous eight days discovering the treasures of the Douro, Varosa and Côa Valleys, enjoy an exclusive Douro Valley Wine Review, as well as on board activities, including a cork jewellery workshop. Alternatively, simply enjoy the beauty of the region as you cruise back into Porto.
Enrich: Enjoy a decadent fine dining experience accompanied by a traditional Fado music performance at the fabulous Burmester Cellars this evening. You can look forward to an evening at what is arguably Porto’s most historic wine cave, situated at the foot of the iconic Dom Luis I pedestrian bridge – a truly unforgettable experience, once again exclusive to Scenic guests. Day 20 Porto
Acquaint yourself with the local fishing industry by meeting the fishermen of Afurada village as they return to port with the day’s catch. Hear their tales of the sea in a local taberna where they’ll prepare their catch over an open fire, to be enjoyed with a chilled glass of wine. How hospitable.
Freechoice: Visit the oldest remaining Canning Factory in Porto for an insight into their 100-year-old family business. Or visit a local corking factory. Alternatively, walk the fragrant terraces of Cristal Gardens. (B,L,D)
Day 21 Porto > Madrid
After breakfast you’ll board your included flight to Madrid. On arrival transfer to your hotel. (B)

This morning, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Madrid.
