Days 1-2 Fly to Beijing
Fly overnight to Beijing. Depending on your time of arrival the rest of the day is yours to start soaking up the local culture.
Day 3 Discover Beijing
Heading to Beijing’s symbolic heart, stroll across Tiananmen Square and into the sprawling magnificence of the Forbidden City to discover a complex full of imperial riches. Later, enjoy a rickshaw ride through the warren-like hutongs and meet a local family where you will learn about local culture and customs. This evening sit down to a traditional dinner of Peking Duck and enjoy a Chinese Acrobatic Show.
Day 4 Great Wall
Visit China’s most iconic sight – the Great Wall. There is no better way to appreciate the magnificence of this incredible structure than a walk along it. Visit the Jade Museum then savour an afternoon in the idyllic landscapes of the Summer Palace.
Day 5 Beijing to Xian
Indulge in some shopping at Beijing’s bustling markets and soak up the harmonious ambiance of the Temple of Heaven, an orderly oasis in a bustling urban landscape, where you can watch, or participate in, a dance group. Fly to Xian and tonight feast on Shui Jiao dumplings and enjoy a performance of Tang Dynasty dancing.
Day 6 Terracotta Warriors
After their fortuitous discovery in the 1970s, the Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang has intrigued visitors ever since. Spend the morning viewing the enigmatic ranks. Later, take a stroll on the Ancient city walls.
Day 7 Xian to Chengdu
Take a walk through the atmospheric alleys of the Muslim Quarter. Later fly to Chengdu.
Day 8 Pandas
Today we will visit China’s most famous resident, the Giant Panda. Visit the Panda Conservation Centre where you can learn about China’s celebrated bear. Visit the Shu Brocade and Embroidery Museum. Later wander through Matchmaker’s Corner in People’s Park where parents search for suitable suitors for their children and visit the atmospheric Wide and Narrow Alleys.
Day 9-11 Yangtze River Cruise
Travel to Chongqing and explore Ciqikou before boarding your Yangtze River cruise for the next three nights, where you'll see one breathtaking panorama after another. Take side trips to the attractive Goddess or Shennong Stream and enjoy a shore excursion to the Shibaozhai Temple.
Day 12 Fly to Shanghai
After visiting the site of the Three Gorges Dam you will disembark your cruise in Yichang. Fly to the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai, also known as the Paris of the East.
Day 13 Shanghai
Visit the peaceful Yu Gardens and the atmospheric alleys of the old town before the Peoples square and admiring magnificent colonial architecture with a stroll along the famous Bund. Follow the age-old silk production process at the Silk Museum, from the cultivation of silkworms up to creating the final piece. There are also many gorgeous items for sale. This evening cruise on the Huangpu River and sample some traditional Shanghai cuisine.
Day 14 Fly to Hong Kong
Fly to Hong Kong and Search for bargains at beach-side Stanley Market before discovering Aberdeen Fishing Village for visions of old-fashioned junks and houseboats and take a trip on a traditional Junk Boat. (B)
Day 15 Victoria Harbour
Take a ferry through Victoria Harbour to spend the day on the lovely island of Lantau. Rediscover wilderness as you visit Cheung Sha Beach, Tai O fishing village and the Giant Buddha. A ride in the Ngong Ping 360° cable-car gives fantastic panoramas over the island’s coastline. Enjoy dinner a top Victoria Peak. (B,D)
Day 16 Depart Hong Kong
Take an optional tour of the New Territories or enjoy a free day before your transfer to Hong Kong airport for your overnight flight back home. (B)
