River Cruise Itinerary
Day 1 – Paris
Arrive at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, where you will be transferred to the ship.
 
Day 2 – Vernon (Giverny), Les Andelys
FEATURED EXCURSIONS: Monet’s Giverny and hike to Château Gaillard
 
Visit Monet’s former home and famous gardens, the inspiration for many of his most beloved works. Later, you can hike up to Château Gaillard to see the ruins of Richard the Lionheart’s 12th-century stronghold and take in the remarkable views. In the evening, enjoy a Captain’s Welcome Reception and Gala Dinner. 
 
Note: Giverny will be closed during the March 13 and 20 cruise departure dates. Instead of Giverny, guests will visit the gardens of Versailles.
 
Day 3 – Rouen (Normandy Beaches)
FEATURED EXCURSIONS: Full day Normandy Beaches with choice of Arromanches 360° Cinema OR Juno Beach and Canadian Centre OR Tapestry Museum in Bayeux
 
Visit historic Omaha Beach and choose from several options: a circular cinema that brings D-Day to life; Juno Beach and the Canadian Centre; or travel to Bayeux to view its famous 11th-century tapestry. At the American Cemetery and memorial honoring U.S. soldiers, you may also join a special remembrance ceremony.
 
Day 4 – Caudebec-en-Caux
FEATURED EXCURSION: Rouen walking discovery tour
 
During your time in historic Rouen, you’ll see the city's medieval quarter, a large Renaissance clock tower, and the bronze cross marking the site where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake.
 
Another highlight is Rouen's Gothic Notre-Dame Cathedral, a favorite subject of artist Claude Monet.
 
Day 5 – Caudebec-en-Caux (Normandy Beaches)
FEATURED EXCURSION: Honfleur walking discovery tour
 
Travel through Normandy’s bucolic countryside to Honfleur, a charming seaside town painted by generations of artists.
 
Tour the former Smuggler's Harbor of Vieux Bassin—the town's most frequently painted scene—and St. Catherine's Church, built by shipwrights.
 
Day 6 – Mantes-la-Jolie (Versailles)

Day 7 – Paris

Today’s panoramic tour of Paris features all the top sights, with a stop at Luxembourg Gardens for a more intimate perspective of Parisian life. Or, “Do as the Locals Do” on an expertly tour of the lively Latin Quarter and Île de la Cité, the historic center of Paris and the site of Notre Dame Cathedral.
 
Day 8 – Paris (disembark), transfer to Bordeaux via TGV high speed train (embark)
Disembark the ship and transfer to Bordeaux via TGV high speed train.
 
Day 9 – Cadillac, Bordeaux
FEATURED EXCURSION: Cadillac, châteaux and Sauternes vineyards with exclusive artisanal wine-pairing lunch at Château de Cazeneuve
 
Embark today on a study of Sauternes, the golden-hued dessert wine that takes its name from the region. Meet local winemakers, sample a variety of vintages and savor an elegant lunch with paired wines at a centuries-old manor house. Note: Sailing on this stretch of the Garonne depends on the tides. If it is not possible to sail to Cadillac, you will be taken to your destination via motorcoach.
 
Day 10 – Cruising the Garonne River and Gironde Estuary, Pauillac

Day 11 – Blaye, cruising the Gironde Estuary and Dordogne River, Libourne

Head ashore for a wonderfully scenic drive along the Route de la Corniche Fleurie, which winds its way through picturesque hamlets filled with old stone houses.
 
Later, you’ll have a guided walk through the imposing 17th-century Blaye Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
 
Day 12 – Libourne (Saint-Émilion)
FEATURED EXCURSION: Saint-Émilion walking discovery tour with wine tasting
 
Saint-Émilion was the first UNESCO-designated wine-growing region, with vineyards dating from Roman times. The quaint city of the same name is known for its 12th-century Monolithic Church, carved out of limestone and extending partially underground. Day 13 – Libourne, cruising the Garonne River, Bordeaux
