DAY 1: BUDAPEST
Boarding in Budapest and settling. Presentation of the crew and welcome cocktail. Traditional evening in Budapest.
DAY 2: BUDAPEST
Full board on board. Departure of the board early in the morning and guided tour of the city. Budapest, with its numerous edifices situated on each side of the river, is incredibly rich in historic emblems. Return on board in Esztergom. In the afternoon, free to visit Esztergom, Hungary's first capital. The neoclassical basilica and the ancient royal palace are part of Esztergom's wealth of monuments. Return on board toward Vienna. Evening of entertainment on board.
DAY 3: BUDAPEST - VIENNA
Full board on board. Arrival in Vienna in the beginning of the afternoon. Excursion to the Hofburg (residence of the Hapsburgs). Tour of Vienna by night.
DAY 4: VIENNA
Full board on board.Guided tour of Schönbrunn Palace and part of the city. Vienna, an imperial city and cradle of music, comes alive around the Cathedral, the Opera and Schönbrunn Palace, the summer residence of the imperial family. In the afternoon, discovery of this marvelous city at your own pace. After dinner, possibility to attend a concert of Viennese music (optional and depending on availability)(1). Departure cruising during the night.
DAY 5: MELK - PASSAU
Full board on board. Feast your eyes on the most beautiful section of the Wachau Valley. Arrival in Melk during the morning. Departure by coach for the tour of the picturesque village of Dürnstein, marked by the legend of King Richard Li Heart and which has a Baroque style church. In the afternoon, optional visit of Melk Abbey. It sits atop a rocky outcrop overlooking the Danube from a height of more than 164 feet, and is one of the most complete examples of baroque art in Austria. Return on board and departure of the boat in the end of the afternoon toward Passau. Crew evening.
DAY 6: PASSAU
Full board on board. Discovery of Passau with our accompanist, a university city, full of music and theater. In the winding streets you'll discover its Baroque patrician houses. Departure sailing toward Ratisbonne. Evening on board.
DAY 7: REGENSBURG - HILPOLTSTEIN
Full board on board. Optional guided tour of Regensberg. Regensberg is the fourth largest city in Bavaria, and an important industrial center (BMW, SIEMENS, TRIUMPH). The historic center nurtures memories accumulated over 2,000 years of history. During this time, the boat will sail to Kelheim where we will join it following our visit. Cruise on the Rhine/Main/Danube canal inaugurated on September 25, 1992, headed to Hilpoltstein. Evening on board.
DAY 8: HILPOLTSTEIN - NUREMBERG - BAMBERG
Full board on board. Arrival in Nuremberg in the morning. Optional guided tour of the city. Nuremberg is a town that seems to come straight out of the Middle Ages. “The little jewel of the Empire”, the old town gathers Gothic edifices, half-timbered houses, and merchants' residences around the market place. During the tour of Nuremberg, the boat will sail to Erlangen. Return on board and sailing toward Bamberg. Evening on board.
DAY 9: BAMBERG - ROTHENBURG
Full board on board. Morning spent sailing. Cruising toward Schweinfurt. Departure by coach for an optional tour of Rothenburg. Rothenburg is a magnificent town perched high on a hill. Behind its ramparts huddle picturesque streets lined with half-timbered houses and craft shops. It is a must-see on the Romantic Road. During the visit, the boat will sail on to Kitzingen, where we return on board. Continuation of the cruise and evening on board.
DAY 10: WURZBURG - WERTHEIM
Full board on board. Tour of Würzburg (residence of the bishop princes). Built on the right bank of the Main, Würzburg is a wonderful stop on the Romantic Road. Reflections of the vineyards mingle with the imposing shade of the citadel, a symbol of the power of the bishop princes. During this time, the boat will sail to Karlstadt where we will join it following our visit. Sailing toward Wertheim and evening on board.
DAY 11: WERTHEIM - MILTENBERG - ASCHAFFENBURG
Full boar don board. Discovery of Miltenberg with our accompanist, its market place, surrounded by half-timbered houses, as well as the High Street and the former Town Hall. All of them make Miltenberg the pearl of the Main. Cruising toward Aschaffenburg. Evening on board.
DAY 12: ASCHAFFENBURG - FRANKFURT - MAINZ
Full board on board. Departure cruising toward Frankfurt. Tour of Frankfurt. The town is a concentration of business and a commercial hub. The mixture of ancient and modern is bound to surprise you. Return on board and sailing to Mainz. At the confluence of the Rhine and the Main, sheltering beneath its thousand-year-old cathedral, Mainz, the city of Gutenberg, is the link between past and present. Arrival in the end of the afternoon. Discovery of the city with our accompanist. Gala evening.
DAY 13: MAINZ - Strasbourg
Buffet breakfast on board. Exercise session. Lunch on board and cruising toward Strasbourg. Passing by the two biggest locks on the Rhine: Iffezheim and Gambsheim. Arrival in Strasbourg in the afternoon. Disembark. End of our services.
